The Manager, IT leads and manages the organization’s information technology functions, including IT systems and security. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the IT unit, ensuring that IT systems, solution providers, infrastructure, and support services meet the organization’s needs. As a member of the Department management team, the incumbent contributes to strategic direction and ongoing operational improvements. Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
    • Manage the operations of the IT Unit by developing and executing the Unit’s strategy, while providing leadership, mentorship, and management for the team.
    • Oversee information technology functions, including systems coordination and design, networking, security, budgeting, hardware and software maintenance, and cloud infrastructure. Provide technical guidance to the team as needed.
    • Address IT requests and applications in alignment with the organization’s regulatory needs and compliance requirements (e.g., privacy impact assessments, Access to Information Act, Privacy Act, Libraries and Archives of Canada Act, threat and risk assessments, etc.).
    • Manage the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure.
    • Maintain IT systems in accordance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices, with a focus on data security and privacy.
    • Develop and enforce security protocols to protect the organization’s data, IT assets, and cloud infrastructure.
    This Role Will Support the Team by Providing:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to understand stakeholder requirements, build consensus, and convey technical details to both IT and non-IT audiences.
    • Attention to detail to ensure IT requirements are met, complex systems issues are resolved, and the security and integrity of systems and data are protected.
    • Coaching and management skills to inspire, motivate, and develop team members.
    • Knowledge of project management principles to effectively plan and execute IT projects.
  • Requirements
      Required Education and Experience
    • 7-10 years of experience managing IT functions, including systems and network security.
    • In-depth knowledge of IT systems, networking, and security practices.
    • Familiarity with programming, scripting, and database operations.
    • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure management.
    • University Degree (Bachelor) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
