Our client a well known regulatory body id looking to hire an experienced Human Resources Generalist/Specialist. This position is hybrid, reporting to the Yorkville Toronto office 2-3 times each week.

  • Responsibilities
    Reports to: Office Operations Manager Supervised by: Office Operations Manager and Registrar-Treasurer Position Purpose: The Human Resources Specialist will support the Office Operations Manager in all aspects of HR including recruitment, onboarding, health and safety initiatives, HR policy and procedure development, and new HR initiatives. The HR Specialist will participate in or provide support in the following areas: A. Recruitment and selection:
    • Liaise with recruitment firms to assist to fill vacancies
    • Conduct initial screening of resumes for job vacancies
    • Coordinate and/or participate in scheduling and conducting of screening calls, testing and interviews
    • Check prospective employee references
    • Assist with offer presentation and lead onboarding
    B. HR Policies and procedures communication, review and development
    • Communicate HR policies and procedures to employees
    • Assist in responding to employee questions regarding human resource policies and procedures
    • Assist in the review, development, implementation and compliance of HR policies, procedures, and programs
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation such as ESA, AODA etc.
    C. Performance management and employee training and development
    • Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on performance evaluation and management, including providing employee feedback and other employee matters such as progressive discipline
    • Ensure ongoing feedback and performance reviews are conducted in a timely manner
    • Assist with rewards and recognition programs
    • Assist in identifying resources to support areas for improvement or training gaps for individual employees
    • Identify and arrange for external individual and group training and development
    D. Maintain Employee Records
    • Maintain paper and electronic employee files, including performance review and training records.
    • Maintain current job descriptions and work with supervisors and staff to update job descriptions regularly
    • Manage data in vendor HR system including assignment of training modules and consultation for legislation updates and other HR tools and templates
    • Prepare employee timesheets annually and monitor for any issues
    • Assist with processing of terminations
    E. Health, safety, wellness and engagement
    • Actively participate in, and provide guidance, to the Joint Health and Safety Committee, including attendance at meetings and workplace inspections
    • Recommend and participate in development of employee communications and initiatives to promote employee wellness and safety
    • Participate in activities related to respectful and inclusive work environment, whether in the planning of social activities or by other means
    • Assist in determining employee satisfaction and development of initiatives to improve upon the level of satisfaction and engagement
    F. Office Condo Board Representation
    • Represent the organization on condo Board of Directors, as required, to ensure that the office building is managed professionally and in a fiscally responsible manner
    Expertise and Experience Requirements:
    • 3-5 years of HR experience
    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resource Management
  • Requirements
    Qualifications: a) Ability to work in the office two or more days per week b) A CHRP or CHRL designation required c) Demonstrated HR generalist experience preferred d) Thorough knowledge of HR management principles and best practices e) Able to interact with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally at all times and able to maintain strict confidentiality f) Possess strong communication skills: verbal, written and listening and demonstrate effective, courteous yet assertive interpersonal skills for communicating with staff at various levels, including individuals of diverse backgrounds g) Possess effective data analysis and research skills and keep up-to-date with current trends and legislative requirements h) Able to provide recommendations to solve HR issues related to regulations, legislation and policies i) Professional and personal integrity, contributing to a positive work environment and to the goals of the organization j) Strong sense of responsibility and accountability; detects and reports own errors and omissions k) Able to work independently and as part of a team l) Strong organizational, time-management and project management skills m) Strong attention to detail; accurately checks own work n) Flexible, resourceful and proactive o) Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure p) Computer proficiency and experience: · Intermediate to advanced level in MS Windows environment including electronic file management, Word, Excel and Outlook · Experience in working with databases
