Our client is a crown corporation company with a centrally located office in downtown Toronto. Their communications team is a talented and highly engaged group of professionals who provide creative and diverse support and advice to clients both internally and externally on corporate, project and program communications, marketing, and stakeholder relations. They work collaboratively on strategic communications, corporate branding, and interactions with clients, stakeholders, media, and the public. They are looking to bring on a Communications Specialist/Advisor for an initial 12 months hybrid contract. Staffworks has an immediate hire for a Legal Assistant for our client, a national legal firm specializing in business law expertise and litigation. Located downtown Toronto, in office 5 days per week, 3-month contract.

  • Responsibilities
    The purpose of the position is to execute strategic communications, community engagement, issues management and client relationships required to proactively plan, implement and monitor communications of I the organization's work as assigned. You will be responsible for developing comprehensive communication plans and strategies for various projects, including the exciting Ontario Place Revitalization initiative. Here's what you'll be doing:
    • Develop communication strategies and plans for designated projects, notably the Ontario Place Revitalization.
    • Manage day-to-day communications for assigned projects, including strategic planning, risk mitigation, coordination with client ministries, and providing leadership with project-specific communication guidance.
    • Produce high-quality communication materials for approval, spanning key messages, presentations, social media content, issue briefs, communication plans, speaking notes, and web content.
    • Coordinate reviews and ensure accuracy of materials provided by ministry partners, identifying and addressing potential PR concerns.
    • Curate content for web platforms, overseeing approval processes with project partners like the Ministry of Infrastructure and private-sector entities.
    • Foster strong internal and external relationships to drive effective collaboration, with a special focus on engaging community-based stakeholders.
  • Requirements
    We're seeking someone with:
    • A degree or diploma in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated experience in communications, ideally within government projects.
    • Proven expertise in crafting and executing strategic communications, issues management plans, stakeholder relations, and event management.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, keen judgment, and analytical prowess.
    • Knowledge or experience in the public sector and/or construction would be advantageous.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Advanced skills in negotiation and influence, crucial for navigating complex and ambiguous situations.
