Job Details:

Our client is looking for a Financial Analyst to fulfill a 1 year contract with a possibility for an extension. They are the city’s leading community mental health agency.

  • Responsibilities
    Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for multiple funding sources as assigned, ensuring compliance with internal standards, contract funder requirements and accounting standards.
    • Collaborate with the Manager of Financial Reporting to consolidate financial data from various projects and funding sources into comprehensive summary reports.
    • Create and enter revenue invoices, revenue and program costs allocation journal entries
    • Maintains a schedule of administrative cost recovery by funding program and funding source.
    • Maintain deferred revenue schedule to ensure compliance with accrual basis of accounting.
    Variance Analysis
    • Analyze variances between actuals and budget, investigating significant discrepancies and providing clear, actionable insights to leadership.
    • Assist in preparing consolidated and program/department variance reports, offering explanations, and identifying trends impacting budget performance.
    • Perform a monthly review of staff cost variance versus budget from hours and compensation rate standpoints
    Data Integration & Management
    • Analyze variances between actuals and budget, investigating significant discrepancies and providing clear, actionable insights to leadership.
    • Assist in preparing consolidated and program/department variance reports, offering explanations, and identifying trends impacting budget performance.
    • Perform a monthly review of staff cost variance versus budget from hours and compensation rate standpoints
    Budget Support & Forecasting
    • Assist in annual budget preparation, supporting the Manager of Financial Reporting and Program Managers in the forecasting process.
    • Monitor ongoing budget performance for assigned projects, preparing periodic budget-to-actual reports, and providing insights into spending patterns in partnership with budget managers.
    Compliance & Audit Support
    • Ensure all financial data is prepared in accordance with legal requirements, funder guidelines, agency policies, and applicable accounting standards.
    • Support the audit process by preparing required documentation, responding to audit queries, and assisting in the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Requirements
    Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
    • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or a relevant designation in progress, is considered an asset.
    Experience
    • Minimum of three (3) years experience in financial analysis, reporting, or budgeting, preferably within the non-profit or healthcare sector.
    Skills You Bring
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in variance analysis and financial reporting.
    • Proficiency in accounting software; prior experience with Oracle’s Netsuite and Yardi is an asset.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial analysis.
    • Familiarity with data reconciliation and the ability to work across multiple accounting systems.
    • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
    • Effective collaboration with program managers, funder representatives, and others to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
    • Skilled in identifying trends, analyzing variances, and providing actionable recommendations.
    • Commitment to adhering to funding guidelines and accounting standards.
    • Strong communication skills to clearly convey analysis and insights for informed decision making.
    • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.

    Experience:

    • Yardi: 2 years (preferred)
    • Non Profit: 1 year (preferred)
    • Healthcare: 1 year (preferred)
    • Financial Analyst: 3 years (required)

    Licence/Certification:

    • Chartered Professional Accountant (preferred)
