We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Treasury Analyst to join our client’s Finance team. This position is for an initial 6-months hybrid contract that can potentially be extended. Their offices are located in downtown Toronto.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Treasury Portfolio, the Treasury Consultant will prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly Net Interest Margin reports, as well as build additional reports to track the performance of lending and investment portfolios and specific organizational programs. This position will also support the Treasury team with budgeting, financial modeling, variance analysis, and liquidity management while maintaining strong relationships with key financial partners.

  • Responsibilities
    What You Will Do:
      • Prepare monthly and quarterly Net Interest Margin reports and analyze variances for senior management.
      • Build additional reports to explain the performance of lending and investment portfolios.
      • Develop and maintain new metrics and reports to track the performance of specific organizational programs.
      • Update quarterly and annual general loan loss provision calculations and provide detailed analysis to explain changes.
      • Support the Treasury team in preparing the annual budget and presenting results.
      • Update, maintain, and improve financial models and spreadsheets for budgeting and quarterly forecasts.
      • Peer review Senior Treasury Analysts’ work, analyzing variances by volume and interest rate mix.
      • Analyze the investment portfolio, execute transactions, and calculate short-term funding needs, while maintaining strong relationships with financial and banking partners.
  • Requirements
    What We Are Looking For:
    • Extensive experience in financial reporting, preferably within a financial institution, including decomposition of Net Interest Margin results and detailed variance analysis.
    • Several years of experience in Treasury, cash, and risk management within financial institutions.
    • Familiarity with financial regulations and the accounting treatment of hedging instruments.
    • Expertise in using information technology, including database techniques, database constructs, and queries. Proficiency in Excel and Python as applied to cash and risk/performance measurement.
    • A degree in Accounting, Mathematics, or Finance; candidates working toward CFA or a similar professional designation are preferred.
    • Training or experience in financial and statistical calculations of risk, cash, profit and loss, and Asset Liability Management (ALM) is an asset.
    • Knowledge of capital markets, including pricing and trading conventions, pricing methodologies for financial instruments, and derivatives, is an asset.
